A sentry of Sunflowers greet gardeners into the Westport Community Garden:

A wall of sunflowers greets gardeners!

Ken Smith in front of his Giant Sunflowers at the entrance of Westport Community Gardens, Ken started them from seed along with green beans with the thought that the green beans would use the sunflower stalks as poles. 

The beans took off before the sunflowers were tall enough and he had to use string for the vines.

Westport Community Gardens has 48 plots and 54 gardeners with a waiting list for 2009
